I build practical software for people who need things to work.
I'm Nicolas Torres, a Full-Stack Web Engineer from Concepción, Chile. I design, build, and scale SaaS products, marketplaces, dashboards, APIs, and AI-powered tools using TypeScript, Next.js, React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
My work sits between product thinking and deep technical execution. I like taking messy requirements, legacy flows, half-built MVPs, or ambitious product ideas and turning them into systems that are clear, maintainable, and ready for real users.
I have worked with international teams across Chile, the U.S., Germany, Singapore, and other remote markets, shipping production features for SaaS platforms, marketplaces, legal-tech products, ticketing systems, and AI-enabled applications.
I work best with clear goals, honest constraints, and enough autonomy to make strong engineering decisions. My default is async-first, typed, documented where it matters, and built with the future maintainer in mind.
I care about clean architecture, but I am not religious about patterns. The right solution is the one that is stable, understandable, and useful. I build software with the mindset of someone who may need to maintain it forever.

How I think about engineering
Useful software, clear systems, and decisions that still make sense six months from now.
- Ownership over hand-holding
- I take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.
- Clarity over cleverness
- Readable systems beat impressive abstractions.
- Pragmatism over hype
- I choose tools and patterns that fit the problem.
- Strict typing over guessing
- TypeScript, contracts, and constraints reduce risk early.
- Useful software over vanity tech
- The product has to help real users, not just demo well.
